The rubber joints between carbs & inlets on my 1996 900 are perished and I suspect are the cause of a small fuel leak that only shows after a ride - leave a day and it stops! Another ride, another small leak. The inlets are only available as an assembly - aluminium inlet with the rubber attached; I have been quoted £50 each with a further £6 each for an O ring - around £220 to do the lot. Yamaha dealer says the rubbers are not available separately - any suggestions?

I haven't tried this myself, so I speak only of 'hearsay' & it might be a rubbish idea: Remove the offending rubbers & stretch some cut-up sections of a bicycle inner-tube over the outside of them. Must be worth a try - but then, maybe painting the outside of the rubbers will rubber solution, like you'd find in a bicycle puncture repair kit, might work too .

me thinks The yamaha dealer is having a laugh...
CMSNL list them as separate parts, orignal part number 4BR-13598-00 but superseeded by 4BR-13598-10
have you tried Fowlers on 0117 977 0466 you'll have to ask for the spares deparment but if they have them in stock usuallt deliver next day.
or there's some on ebay at the moment Clicky Here
HTH Flymooops it's a D9...

I can't see that the rubbers on their own would cause a leak if perished & leaking they could cause popping & misfires/backfires on overrun & rough running if leaking. I would check float levels first before spending lots.

Link doesn't work but if you do an ebay search on XJ900 carb and tick the box to check title and description it will come up.

The fuel leak might be the fuel tap not shutting off properly - IIRC, its a vacuum type so the diaphragm could have split
