Has anyone any ideas? My 600 (J reg) was running nicely last weekend, I went to the garage this morning to take it for MOT - no power at all. It has a new battery which is fully charged. The only clue (altho meaningless to me!) is that when I connect the charger to the battery whilst the ignition is on, a buzzing noise comes from the battery area. All fuses appear fine. If anyone can help at all, it would be much appreciated! Thanks - Chris

All you can do is disconnect the battery then disconnect the wiring connectors one by one and each time trying the battery. When the problem goes away you've found a pointer to the fault. It might be a short circuit - chafed wires maybe.

Please - Don't forget the obvious
I've just got back from my daughter's - her bike displayed similar symptoms. In her case though, the dash lights came on (all except the neutral light !) Somehow she'd missed that little fact and spent days trying to track down an electrical fault including telephone advice from me.
Sometimes you need to step back and look at it with fresh eyes (or get someone else to do so)
A close friend spent several minutes trying to start his bike by turning the key - until someone pointed out that unlike a car you also have to push a button !
So - is the ignition switch working, is the kill switch turned on, is the sidestand up and is the clutch pulled in? Similarly are all the associated interlock/safety switches operating as they should or are they stuck?
Admittedly, if you've got absolutely nothing (no dash lights, horn etc) then you need to start looking at fuses - or alarms which can cut all power in some installations
