;D hi all im new to this site so hello, i just got my grubby mitts on a 600 divvy, n i think? made 1993 1st reg in 1998 i have a question, the bike has been street fighterd but i found that when i had a mouch round the bike it has a back tyre no bigger than the front, is there a bigger back wheel or swing arm wheel swap form any other bike that fitts so i can run a wider back wheel? the tail has been shortened buy 10cm racked up buy 4.5 cm and he put a twin light on it cusdom under tray and converted the exhuast to one can high rise, rethal fat bars etc etc and the super skiny back tyer scares me as hes geared it to pull very low down, very very low down, pull like a train infact just dont like the idea for the skinny back tyer thier, one becuase it looks carp and well riding around my street at 30mph i found that i was at the edge of the back tyer! ps the guy that did the conversion and gave me the bike said the clutch chatters very slightly, but after inspection and adjustment got ridd of the noise, its was not so much a rattle as a chatta he said, but i hear no noise from the clutch? has anyone got any information that can help? cheers jason

Hi Jason,
Firstly, welcome to the group and congrats on getting the D6 - hope it'll suit you well. ;D
There have been a few notable streetfightered D6's that have come and gone, Xtreme's probably being the most notable for the work he did. Deffo an individual, yet still tasteful conversion.
Unfortunately I for one cannot recall anyone dropping a larger wheel in. The average user that frequents this site is either a newbie, a returnee, someone after cheap commuter transport or a tourer type. The Divvy per se hasn't generally attracted the modding type to date - so unfortunately there may not be much previous experience to draw upon in this area.......I hope to be proved wrong!!! The D6 never quite caught up to the Bandit scene lol
The clutch rattle on a D6 is normal. "They all do that Sir"
That's not to say it isn't possible - nor won't result favourably......
Keep us posted - and post some pics!
Rgds,
Neil

hello mate. the easiest wheel swap is to use the FZR 600 wheel - 4"x 18. i tried to use a fzr1000 but its way too big. the 600 fits straight in. post some pics soon, ive gotta see it!

The Divvie rear swing arm wont realistically take anything wider than standard. Has the bike got non divvie forks with wide front wheel that makes the rear look skinny? Miss-matched wheels will mess up the handling.

ah will have to get back to you about the sizes, think its 110 130, as far as i know its got standard skinny forks and what i think are standard gray 3 spoke divvy wheels, my cbr 400 has got a larger back wheel than this divvy 600! the front is prtty well sized, about averge size just that rear is to small man, how much wider is the fzr wheel? cant be that bigger? what year fzr?

Thats the original wheels, just looks smaller on your bike! Very nice looking streetfighter, not many people spend the money on a cheap bike like the D6, love the exhaust. Matt.

yep thats what i figured, that back wheel is just to small, if the fzr back wheel fits then i mite invest in one. i havent even rode it yet, not properly just up and down my road, not sure if im going to keep it yet. the electics are all exposed and it missfires if you put the choke on full but if you only pull it out half way it fires up fine, must just be running rich, anyone got the 18 inch fzr wheel they dont want?

The choke plungers can stick making the affected carbs run rich. Why not go totally mad and build some forks like this guy did way before BMW got into the idea. No dive on the brakes and minimal geometry change as the springs move. www.hossack-design.co.uk

So to fit a FZR600 rear wheel would you need to change the swing arm too?
I'm looking to have a bit of fun modding my divvy, any tips or sources of info would be most welcome! :-D

no need to change anything, but fzr wheel must be 1991 on. earlier models were same size as divvvy but 91 on models should be 4". wheel is identical to divvy, so straight swap. if you want to change the front end, again fzr600 front end will fit straight on, PROVIDED you have a divvy with 41mm forks. (newer model). if you have 38mm forks, you need to get hold of newer divvy yolkes. fzr yolkes too complicated.

well ive been useing it with the smaller back wheel and it handles fine actually was still going to swap as it would improve thing further, but im sad to say that ive got to move on the the divvy so it up for sale as of now, ill post a propper ad in the for sale section, didnt really want to just go stright to ebay, if someone on here was to buy it then at least i know there for real and like the divvy 600, any way £900 and it can be taken away for deatails ill post in the ad if there is a section for selling , i belive there is. in the mean time just in case my email is jayhallion@yahoo.com.
