3 basic options. 1. Use a dedicated m/cycle based unit. 2. Use a car designed system and try to keep waterproof in some form of holder. 3. Use mobile phone with navigation programme in pocket or similar holder to 2. If you are going to make route changes/selections whilst undertaking a journey, option 1 is the best method. If you are happy to pre-programme and listen to the directions, option 3. A mid point allowing viewing and a degee of access would be option 2. Number 3 usually is the cheapest. Number 2, economical if you allready posess a gps and can be happy with its weather protection. Number 1 costs the most but is probably the easiest and best option. Cheapest I've seen the bike dedicated unit for is attached. Compare this with about £30 for smart phone software or about £60 for a car designed unit and a further £20-£40 for weatherproof holder. www.handtec.co.uk/product.php/2922/tomtom-urban-rider---europe/71ab224408ea74475bf6eb3a25e7daaa

Thanks for that Tomcat, I'd come to the same conclusions having searched the web / e-bay, but it's nice to hear it fom someone else too. I think I'm going for the car unit in a 'waterproof' holder, if I mount it behind the fairing it should keep most of the weather off. I'll let you know how it works out.

If you see the comments I made on the other sat nav link may save you a few hundred pounds and bodging involved either.

If you are thinking of mobile phone and sat nav app option.
Then avoid CoPilot Live Premium UK + IRE which has been just released. V8 is OK.
While it is a improvement in the front end....
It has serious problems on the navigation side.... Right turn on a M/way.... WTF @ leicester Forest. Still had sat lock, but it told me we were off the M1, would not have minded if it was a new section of the M1, but its not. Did this at another point as well on the M1.....
Not being able to agree voice and on screen directions. Tell you exit 4 via voice, but 3 on screen... Same with M'way junctions and its new laning option....
Bad updating when it sends you the wrong way.... Example. Leaving bluewater and heading for Swanley, distance of 8 miles it says. Fine almost, upto M 25 (voice/screen arguements) It then sent me off on J3 M20... Not 3A.... It then updates to 100+ miles. I guess M20 has no turns off before Folkstone. Now this is not good when its 23:00 on a Sun and you only have 60 miles of fuel left in the tank..... Thankfully there are turn offs as we found out. Only just before turn off for Brands Hatch did it up date again to a new route. Surfice to say we used good old signs to get back after that....
