First i like to say thanks for all the help received about my headlight woes. The advice was very practical and allowed me too quickly and easily adjust its aim. I can now see the way in the dark! Anyway back too my point. Airing on the side of caution I've decided to fit some crash bars to my diversion. Having purchased a set off Ebay and restored them too nearly new state I'm looking to fit them. They attach at the front engine mount. Does anyone know if the bolts that hold them too the frame are torque mounted or is it simply a case of brute force too tighten and undo them?

I'm assuming you have the Yamaha bars - a separate one on each side that curve back round the engine?
The front engine bolts should just be normal spanner-tight. However, the nut on one of them (lower left-hand side I think) is a bit tricky to access due to the oil filter boss getting in the way. You'll probably need to wedge the nut into an open-ended spanner to wangle it into position. Don't start the job as it's getting dark, thinking it'll only take a few minutes, like I did!
The standard engine bolts are a few mm too short, so you need longer ones. When the bars were new they longer bolts would have been supplied with them , if not you'll need to buy some.
The original bolts are fine thread, so getting longer versions of them from your local hardware store may be difficult. Even when you can find them they cost a bomb. But you can use standard ISO metric bolts and nuts so long as you use reasonably thick washers at both ends, and put a drop of Loctite on the nuts. Getting the washer in place on that difficult one is interesting.
When you measure up the length you need, allow for the washers as well.
Hope this helps - Bob

Hope this helps - Bob I needed longer bolts for my Renntec bars. Motorcycle shops weren't at all helpful. I got some from a mower/garden equipment shop. They were Honda bolts curiously enough........
