Greetings!
A while back I saw a rack for back case which was bolted to pillion handles. It was DIY made from basic flat metal bar and a givi plate. It looked nice and sturdy.
I was just thinking how tough are Divvys pillion handles? Those are bolted to the frame so maybe they are up for the job.
Any thoughts, please?

They are bolted on by short M6 bolts threaded into a thin bit of metal. I wouldn't put any heavy weights hung on there, personally. If you drilled 8mm through there and put a longer bolt and nylock nut on, then you might be onto something. Still though, there are perfectly good racks out there which hang from the dedicated luggage points.

The rack mounting on my FZ6 is the official Yamaha one and that fixes to the grab handles. It takes a Givi-compatible (monolock) top box with the usual 5Kg weight limit, though I've carried probably twice that when touring. It does bounce around a bit, but I've never been worried that it's not strong enough.
The grab handles on the Diversion are not quite the same, but I'd still be happy to mount a top box off them. I think it would be wise to follow Amorti's advice and beef up their mountings, though.

You can pick the whole bike up by the grab handles. I've seen rear tyres changed this way using a winch.

Does anyone here have the sw-motech alurack? I haven't seen any on diversion but the pictures of the other bikes in the web shows that many of them are bolted to the handles or in place of them.
I want to have a rack which is small and tidy. The one I have now is rusting, already welded and ugly.
The alurack is not very expensive here in Finland, but still somehow making one myself feels tempting.
