I had a chat with Neil (Dah Dit) and Matt (Tigger) a couple of years back back about how to run Sky to another room, and ran an aerial extension to my study, but never had much success as picture quality was really bad. We recently had a new Sky HD box, I asked the engineer how to do it, he said it's not that easy and he will come back and do it for £60 cash, which I declined. As soon as he was gone I plugged the old extension into the RF2 port on the back of the Sky box, and whey hey perfect picture in the study This means we can send the kids into the study to watch TV, or I can watch it while on the PC. To get to the point, I went a step further and bought one of these amazing gizmos from e-bay cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200365243505&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:ITIt arrived today, I plugged it into the study TV, made a change on the Sky box setup, and within a couple of mins I was able to change channels on the Sky box from the study. The final good news was that our old Sky remote also still works on the new box, so even have the use of the remote in the study ;D Easily pleased for well under a tenner ;D I know this will be obvious to most, but hope it might help someone. Dave

Erm, wasn't that what I suggested you did in the first place? Your old Sky box had an RF2 output, and you haven't changed anything else.....
Confused from Beverley.

Must have been a problem with the Sky box, reception was dreadful. We always thought all the failed recordings and bad reception were a problem with the dish, but the new box seems to have solved all these issues Just wish I hadnt let them get away with it for so long Dave

Yipee! Result! Glad you're sorted m8y. And with a new HD box like us.
We don't have a HD TV yet, but have you noticed Sky are now broadcasting the FreeSat channels in HD for free now? They kept that quiet. BBC HD, ITV HD, Ch.5 HD.
So another top tip. If you have an older Sky box, but have a HD ready TV..... tell Sky to ram their packages up their a**e and that you're leaving. They *may* offer to send you a new Sky+ HD box, with which you'll get the FreeSat channels in HD.

I wouldnt know what the channels were, but did recognise that there were extra channels under the "HD" heading (which are not all in HD) Currently watching Fish Warrior on our old portable in the study and even that looks HD Dave

I wouldnt know what the channels were, but did recognise that there were extra channels under the "HD" heading (which are not all in HD) You and I won't see the difference because we're watching the output via a scart connector. But, with a HDMI connected HDTV, they should see the difference.

Yip, HD is in Neil's favoured phrase... AWESOME ;D Nice tip about getting Sky in another room Fi and the Remote thingummybob. One thought though, if the kids are watching something on Sky in the room and it suddenly clicks over to bike racing for you to enjoy in the study won't there be tears?* *Just had another thought, whilst you're late night channel hopping in the study, (with the door closed of course), just make sure the kids or Julie haven't stirred from their beds and decided to pop the telly on for a minute

By the way Trev, you still need a coaxial thingymy bob lead connected from the Sky box to the secondary TV. These are available as aerial extension kits.

Unfortunately not totally free, seems I lack Trevs powers of haggling.
Got free box and install and half price HD subscription that I can cancel after a year.
