I have just done an oil and filter change on a 95 divi.
After running the engine for about 30 or 40 secs the oil warning light comes on.
I put in about 2.2 liters of fresh oil.
I also had to take off the nexxus exhaust to get to the drain plug.
Not sure if incorrect fitting of the exhaust would have any affect.
Any ideas as why the warning light has come on?

It's a level warning, not pressure. So it's probably just that the level dropped as the new filter filled up, and you just need to put a bit more in.
The 600 does like the level to be up near the "Full" mark - though obviously don't over-fill it because the clutch etc. will then churn it up and cause foaming.

the oil level was roughly about half way on the wee viewing window before the change.
so i should just stick a wee bit more oil in to see if this remedies the situation?

Yep, as Bob says the 600 likes the oil level to be near the top of the sight glass.

Yamahas are buggers for this - My old EXUP would keep blinking the oil light at me if I wheelied it......

My XJ900S manual displays the engine oil requirement with filter change is 3.2 L NOT 2.2L!!

it stills comes on now and again, usally when its been sitting idling on the centre stand for a coupla minutes.
turned it off and back on again,it goes out!
it never comes on whilst on the road, which is the important thing I guess!
