Hi Guys and Gals, Bought a Divvy 600 S about6 months ago and since I've had it , it has had this wobble on the bars at low speed coming down from , say , 50-40 mph. Its not a big problem but worrying and also seems to enjoy leaning into a right hand turn a bit to much, bit like oversteer in a car. Just wondered if aany oof you peeps have come across this? ? Thanks Buck

How old is your front tyre?
Do you have a top box fitted??

Well-known issue. Check tyre pressures, front tyre wear (what tyres are fitted, BT45's are best), steering bearings, rear suspension bearings, shock absorber conditions front and rear... it just seems a lot of XJ600's do this, especially when a top box is fitted.

i'd check the rear wheel alignment if it seems to go one way easier than the other...

Hi
Also check your rear tire. If it's too old or not well balanced, vibrations can travel to the handlebar. What happens sometimes is you lose the whell balancing thingies (out of lead or whatever, I don't know the English name ;-) )

Hi Guys, sorry for the late reply, dont get to a p.c. too much. Changed the front tyre two month ago (puncture) and had it balanced ? Yeah I've got a top box on, big un aswell 45 ltr, but did'nt make a difference on my old G.S. 500 tho. Forgot: new tyre is a Conti Go . any good? ?? Thanks for all your replies Rich

Hi Amorti, in the " Haynes" it says 29 front and 36 rear, do you think thats right or are you going by experience which to me is usually the best advice. The bike does'nt fill me with confidence when cornering as it feels a bit sloppy. I know its not a road racer and its 13/14 years old but feels ok in a straight line. Just got back into bikes after a 20 year lay-off so may have a bit of a twitchy ass me thinks hahaha
Thanks Rich

The tyre people seem to have agreed on 36/42 p.s.i (2.5/2.8 bar) as the "default" settings that should work OK for most people 1 or 2-up. This is the safe option, and clearly errs on the safe side for solo riders of average weight.
Some bike manufacturers suggest 33/36 p.s.i. (2.3/2.5 bar) for solo riding up to 90 Kg. I'd not go below that, except maybe on a track. In fact I generally use a halfway-house - 34/39 - on the FZ6.
Odd thing is the Teneré, which has narrow tubed Metzeler Tourance tyres (though actually not much narrower than a D6 - 90/90 front and 130/80 rear), runs at 30/33 solo. And the old DRZ, which admittedly was some 60 Kg lighter, used 18/22 if I remember right.

Wow, my eyes are really opened to this, did'nt think that tyre pressures would be that high on a bike. Better get me pump out sharpish!!! I'm 16 stone and 6ft 6in so I should err to the high side of pressures then.
Thanks again fellas.
