Hi All, just want to add this message as a sign up for the 2011 Derby run. We have not done much planning yet on the run route only that it will be somewhere between 50 and 500 miles, and will start at CMC in Clay Cross again. We are open to ideas and would like to know who is interested and any preferences. We will stick to the usual format of 1 to 1½ hours sections to prevent dehydration, starvation, and flat bum syndrome, so please give us your opinions. We would like to know if anyone is comming saturday and wants overnight accommodation or camping facillities, interested in meeting at pub on sat night etc. Also would like to know if anyone wants to come on a trial run nearer to time (special note & thanks to Flymo & Molestrangler for help last year.) Lunch Menu John & Andy.

John, This is the week before our trip to the Swiss alps so you can put Pat & I down for back marker duties again. If you need any help with the route then let me know and I will try to assist. Ian

I'll be up for the run, probably with mrs-big-biker on the back - it'll be our first club run. I'd be bhappy to help on route if needed, and possibly on a prep run being local - it depends on when it is. Steve

Sorry to hear that Dave, we always consider you as one of the stalwarts of the Derby run so all the best. We hope the reason is something better and not a bad one or illness. Pass on our regars to the wife & hope to see you on another run.
Best regards, John, & Andy.

I always try to get to the Derby run but don't always succeed. Last year could only make it to the start because of family commitments.
This one is on the calendar.
Might have to ride over on my own if Dave isn't going!!

I would realy like to join you all on the run ,The only problem is that I do not know the area by Clay Cross ,I come from overseas and some of the places are not to familiar to me. If someone would be kind enough to give me directions from Lichfield ,to the meeting place I will be very grateful.

Take the A38 past Burton and Derby, then take the A61 for about 6 miles or so towards Chesterfield, nice and easy. The chances are I'll be going, so welcome to ride along if you wish. I'm in Lichfield tomorrow, for the beer festival ;D

Hi All
Just a quick up date regarding Derby run this year, Andy and I went to CMC at Clay cross (ex Stratstone, ex Powersports) where all is now back on stream, and the top man was only too pleased to let us start the run from there again and the cafe will be open at 9.00am for anyone needing refreshment. He has asked if we could give them some idea of numbers closer to the time. So we have now fixed the starting point at CMC (Clay Cross) at 10.00am. for briefing and 10.30am start, so we will now sort out the route and accommodation options.
Will keep posting up dates and open for suggestions and/or comments.
John & Andy.

Is the plan: meet Sat am, ride all day, meat sat evening, drink beer, meat Sunday morning, go home, or meet sat evening, meat sat evening, drink beer all night, try and eat meat Sunday morning then ride rough headed all day Sunday?
Given the content of another thread about a group of bikers being charged with causing death by dangerous driving when two of their group crashed, will there be some sensible plan or guidance about group riding. I note volunteers for back markers, in previous posts, so thankyou Molestrangler and Pat, whoever you are.

I note volunteers for back markers, in previous posts, so thankyou Molestrangler and Pat, whoever you are. Thanks for voicing your concerns. On the Runs and Meets board there are two threads called Notes for hosting a run & Club Run Rules which detail our run proceedures. These give good guidance for the hosts and attendees for a run and should be read before your first outing. There is also a Safety Briefing at the start of the run. These of course do not distract from the rules of the road which we must all abide to. As we almost always use the marker system you are free to travel at your own pace without fear of getting lost or pressure to keep up with the person in front. Attendance of the Saturday evening is not compulsory and many members just attend on the Sunday. Hope this helps

Just want to clear up any confusion, please see following notice posted after CMC took over when Andy & myself went to see the management. It would be handy to know if anyone wanted camping facillities, accommodation, or any other help or information regarding the run. Sorry for the lack of info so far but I have just changed the divvi for a Honda CBF 1000 and have been a bit busy at work, but will respond to anyone needing help or info etc. Best regards John. Funny you should say that Dave but i've only ridden it before 11.00am & after 3.00pm so it sounds like I have something to look forward to. Andy used to give me some earache over the radio on the Divvi if I went over the line so I will see how it goes. Will you manage to make the run this year?

Went for a run out today with John and Andy,to try out a part of the possible Derby run route for June, first time I had been out with the guys and I must regretfully say it may be my last, the reason being ,Andy's shameful performance in the cafe,to have a fine Derbyshire lad beaten by a full English is pitiful,I can only put it down to him spending too much time down south,he even used a cigarette holder for his post feed fag. John,he needs some therapy! ;D

Hi Guys
Here is the basic plan for the Derby runs this year.
SATURDAY RUN. Start point
CMC bike shop on A61 @ Clay Cross (was called Stratstones and Powersports). ~9.30am for ~ 10.00am start.
Route
Clay cross, Bolsover, Cuckney, Ollerton, along A515 to Newark. Stop at barge café on side of river for T, P, or ciggie break then return on A514 to Sutton and return to CMC at Clay cross.
Approx 68 miles.
SUNDAY RUN. Start point
CMC bike shop on A61 @ Clay Cross (was called Stratstones and Powersports). Café will open at ~ 9.00 to 9:30am for us but use side door as shop doesn’t open until 10:00 am. 10:00am Safety briefing for 10:30am. start.
Route
A61 to Tupton, Milltown, Butterley, along ridge to Beeley, Ashford in the Water, Monyash, Brierlow Bar, Millers Dale, Tideswell, Bradwell, Hope
First stop T, & P – Castleton main car park
Then – Winnats pass, Chapel en le frith, Whaley bridge, Goyt Valley, Buxton, Dove holes, Sparrowpit, Peak forest, Stoney middleton.
Second stop & possible lunch stop at Yondermans café just before Stoney middleton.
Then – Owler bar, Bakewell, Two Dales, Stonedge, Ashover, Littlemoor, Tupton, and return to CMC at Clay cross to end run.
Approx 118. Miles.
We will be doing a full practice run on Sunday (12th June) starting from CMC at similar time so if anyone wishes to come along they are more than welcome.
Saturday night venue is not decided as the Boundary seems a popular choice and is ok with us unless the people wishing to camp need some help. Christhedivvy aka the yoyo, and Daverudd have said they wish to camp so can they let me know if they have a camp site or do they want me to look for something local. Also Blinky stated a preference for the Boundary so has he been sorted? There is also a travel lodge type place on the Alfreton turn off on the A38 so I will find out more information if anyone is interested.
John & Andy.
