Right, I've been having this trouble for a while now, I wasn't able to get the bike started.
However after a little play with petrol and carbs (pouring it into the carbs) I got her to fire up. i thought great, refitted everything, went to start her and nothing...
I've narrowed it down to the fuel pump, and the filter was full showing the tap is working and there was no fuel being delivered up to the carbs.
Now my question is, how do i go about sorting this out?
I've looked for a repair kit, but can only find the tap repair kits. I'd rather not have to buy a new fuel pump and I'm sure that'll be expensive and i bet i couldn't find one.
If any of you guys and girls can help me out, it would be greatly appriciated.
Thank you in advance
Mikey.

Hi Mikey
First thing to establish is what type of fuel pump is it?
The earlier 600 (92 - 95) had a vacuum operated pump. While later models (96 on) had an electric pump.

Have you turned the tap to prime ? The one I did wouldn't start unless it was on prime and would switch to run afterwards with no problem as soon as there was vacuum. Also check the vacuum pipe is connected.

The vacuum pump is known to be a bit sh*t , which is why they changed it to an electric one on later models. It is possible to retro-fit the electric one, there will be info in old threads to Search out.
Are you certain the fuel filter isn't blocked? Might as well change it anyway, and it might just work out a much cheaper easier job.

I shall have a look out for those threads, I've already replaced the fuel filter.
