This is a bit wierd.
All working fine on run home from work, stopped off to collect a few books, put tank bag on and the when to turn on the lights.
My dash lights say my head lamps are on, but NO head light is on at all, dipped of full.
checked fuse, not that.
Taking off my fairing now to see if I can see any thing obvious.
If this an indicator of any sorts?
No head light working, full beam light on.
all other lights working...

Check the earth for continuity back from the headlight bulb connector to the battery?

more about swtich position and stuff...
Lights switched to side lights the main beam light does not come on in the dash. Lights switched to normal the main beam dash light is on.
at no point are the lights on. (lost light now so have to wait till morning, fairing all but off and I will take of tank in the morning.
(I am thinking that the strap that goes round the handle bars to the tank bag may have 'pulled' on a wire...

in case it helps other...
removed the fairing / tank and light etc. check wiring around the lamp.
all looked ok.
with fairing off, light out of casing and tank of, turned on the ignition... lamp on.
main and dipped working.
put bike back together seems fine.
I can only guess there was a wire loose or sommet.
*crosses fingers*

There probably was indeed a loose wire, fingers crossed the fault doesn't re-occur, although by the time it does it'll be worse, so easier to find (if that makes sense!)
