Excuse my ignorance but does anybody have a sensible suggestion as to why there is a lanyard (loop ended wire) in the tool kit?

yep, it's a helmet lock strap Thanks very much. I asked about the helmet lock when I got the bike from the shop and was told there wasn't one! The metal work under the seat makes sense now  . Cheers. |
