The starter has been getting slower over the past couple of weeks, thought at first it was the battery getting run down with just doing short trips, but a top up charge and even swapping the battery for another one (just to be double sure) has not made any difference.
It's now at the point it wont start the bike and I'm left thinking that it could/might be the bushes in the starter motor itself.
Anyone have this sort of thing happen to their divvy's and point me in the right direction before I go and end up buying a bunch of stuff/bits I don't need

I would defo look at the starter first. Just take it off and strip it, it could just be a case of it wanting a good cleaning out or new brushes

I gave my old Divi's brushes a clean years ago when it had a problem and it was never a problem again. I don't remember it being that hard to do.

Same as GW. Bike was only about 3 or 4 years old. One wire connection bolt and two mounting bolts, I think, to remove the starter. Then two bolts to take the end cap off. Clean up the brush ends, make sure they move ok and blow any loose muck out of the starter. Reassembled and no more problems from then to now (5 or 6 years) Worth a try as it costs nothing but time.
