Hi there. I was given a centre stand and two fixing bolts to go along with my 600n when I bought it, the previous owner had removed it for some reason. I test fitted it to the bike tonight and although a tiny bit wobbly due to not being properly tightened up I think, it does seem to support the bike ok so I want to get it back on as it will help with maintenance, washing etc. I know I will need a new spring as there was not one with it but can anybody tell me if there is anything else I will need apart from the spring please? Cheers. i1019.photobucket.com/albums/af314/huggyg71/XJ600N/100_1822.jpgi1019.photobucket.com/albums/af314/huggyg71/XJ600N/100_1812.jpg

Since no-one else has come up with anything, here's my two-pennyworth:
From the pix it looks as though the foot lever on the stand is missing, though it's difficult to be certain without seeing the whole thing. If that's the case it will be a bit more tricky to get the bike onto the stand once the spring is fitted.
There are actually 2 springs, one inside the other. I don't know if that's a legal requirement in case one breaks, or just Yamaha being cautious.
You will need some sort of stop (rubber buffer) to prevent the stand clanking on the silencer. I think the original set-up was a buffer on the stand and a stop abutment built into the l/h silencer (maybe a current owner can confirm), but if the bike has an aftermarket exhaust they may not be there.
Personally, having had a 600 in the same state as yours, and having previously owned sports bikes which don't have a centre stand, I was quite happy to keep the stand in the workshop and just fit it temporarily (2-3 minutes) when I needed to do any maintenance that needed more than a paddock stand.
But obviously it's a matter of personal preference.

Sorry my photo taking abilities are rubbish :-).
The lever is still on the stand and also still has the rubber that sits under the exhaust. It was more the parts required for fitting that i was unsure off as all I was given was two nuts and bolts. Thanks.

Two nuts and bolts are all you need - so long as the bolts are the stepped ones to be a reasonably snug fit in the holes. Grease them up well.

Brilliant thanks. I will give it a good scrub and lick of paint and try and fit it over this next few days.
