Hi all, I have bought a 91 xj 600 but it has a lack of power,it will nip up to about 75 quite normal but then decides thats it m8 youve had your lot,now since i dont sit mod 2 till next week i havent tried it on the bypass to see if she will climb anymore,i wondered if it was restricted?read the threads on here and pulled the rubber between the carbs and head but its just standard gaskets in there,how would i check the mikuni carbs?no rattles or knocks except for clutch.no sign of it drawing air,new air filter and plugs.any advice greatly appreciated.

I once had an XS400. I test-rode it up to 50-ish before deciding to buy it. When I got it home it wouldn't get past 60. A good look at all the normal things didn't reveal much but when I checked the oil level it was almost full to he brim! I drained out the oil and refilled to the required level and No problem!The previous owner had kept topping up the oil without checking the max. level and it wouldn't run with too much oil. Doh! Worth a look, anyway.

Restricted 600s will normally be able to reach 90
