Hi guys,
Just wonder what's your normal riding RMP like ? My Diversion XJ6S (09 model) seems to be very high rev. Normal travelling at 100km/hr ( 60 miles ) RPM reads 5.5K Had to change gear at 4 to 5 k rpm else the bike seems powerless.
Your feedback is welcome.......

Sounds fast to me. My N hits 5k at 105kmh (sorry, no miles here).
Standard sprockets.
Touring in top gear at the speed limit, 90, puts the engine in the vibration zone 4-4.5k. I often drop into 5th gear to avoid the vibes.
You bike has the higher revving Fazer engine though.

yup.. kind of not use to it. Engine seem like working very hard but speed not fast.

You just need to give it some berries - 5k is *not* working the engine hard, it's nowhere near peak efficiency.Get some more revs on board and enjoy the bike

Agree with G Man.
I first thought my 600 was sluggish, and high revving, but red line around 10k, get it around there and it shifts a bit.. 80 ish would be around 5 to 5.5 k, need over 7 to feel it start pulling, and they are happy over 7k,

Some people gear the Divvie 600 up with a smaller rear sprocket, but all that does is makes it sluggish and can even use more fuel. The engine is designed to rev and if you do that the vibrations are less of an issue.

The previous owner of my 1998 XJ600S decided he didn't want to rev the engine so much, so he changed the gearing to lower the RPM at motorway cruising speeds. It's not the end of the world, after all, the XJ600 is hardly a missile to start with, but as soon as the chain/sprockets need replacing - I'm going back to the original specification.

Hope everyone who posted noticed he has the '09 diversion, so it's really an R6 lump downgraded a bit. The old divvy engine = air/oil cooled 8 valve, goes up to 9k rpm before popping, the new one water cooled, 16v head and goes quite a lot higher. My old 400 Honda would be doing 10mph per 1100rpm, so that 11,000rpm was 100mph. That got tiresome on a longer cruise, but was tons of fun when you were riding it fast* *subjectively, natch

it's ok guys, any now i don't look at the RMP while riding anymore....realised high rev the engine sounds much better....
