Just a point... the 600 does not have an electric fuel pump as standard.. it's vacuum, so unless turning over, / running no fuel will be getting anywhere..
A few have modified to electric to help solve poor starting, as can take a bit of cranking over if carbs are empty. OR, turn fuel tap to prime 10 mins before you try starting, but remember to turn tap back to normal, or you just may run out of fuel ! without warnings...

No Rog, it has an electric fuel pump as it's a 2001 model. Regarding the suspect carb problem. I suggest you familiarise yourself with the inners of a Mikuni carb before you attempt any repairs. Peruse your Haynes Manual and Google 'cleaning a Mikuni carb'. To clean the main jet is not a difficult job. Just a matter of removing the float chamber top after draining down to expose the main/pilot jet. It is also well documented on this forum. But you need to know your way round a carb to tackle it. Still, you have been on a steep learning curve with your skills on your Starter Motor repair. So who knows the limit of your new found expertise!
