How do you change air filter on a xj600, I know it is under the fuel tank, do i have to take the tank fully off, clipping the fuel lines or can it be done by just getting somone to hold the tank up, while it is changed. without interfering with the fuel lines,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,cheers,,,

You will need to remove the tank. As long as your fuel tap is in the 'on' position no fuel will leak out because it's a vacuum tap. (There is no 'off' position. 'Prime' will spew fuel.)

To remove the tank, you have to take off the fuel tap knob and the hoses just pull off the tap. Take care to put them back correctly.
Blow the filter out with compressed air and its good to go. :-)

Yes, do make sure you remove the tap handle before attempting to remove the tank or it will snap off (don't ask me how I know ). You have 3 plastic tubes to remove from the tap. 1) Petrol. 2) Vacuum pipe from manifold. 3) Breather at back of tap. Then just remove the 2 tank fixing bolts and it's sorted.

Don't overtighten the filter case cover screws - the plastic strips out all too easily.
