Hi yall, can any one tell me if the steering head bearings are the same between a '92 and a97/8 xj6 as i have acquired a complete twin disk front end and as the seca only got new steering bearings last summer i am hoping there still the same. Hope the spelling n termioligy is right as i am now off to kick the person who invented colds.

Id expect the frame is the same so if the twin disc steering spindle fits the new bearings you have a very good chance of it all fitting.
When I replaced the head bearings on my D9 the bottom inner bearing was VERY tight on the spindle. I had to angle grind a slot in the bearing race and then crack it with a (blunt) cold chisel and lump hammer.

Cheers chap, that was my thought to but you never know till you put the question out there. Also just droped off my r plate 6 n collected the seca n after all these years i never noticed how much smaller it feels compared to the later model, definitely easier to chuck around!( looks n sounds better with a carbon tri oval on it now)

Its only my opinion - could well be wrong. I thought they were all the same size (though the 400S has a narrower fairing than the 600S). BTW its well worth having the bottom yoke stove enamelled. Mine cost £20 and its cured any rust issues for ever. You could also have the top yoke done to match fork legs and darker grey side covers on the engine.
