Hi Guys,
I am actually on here on behalf of my girlfriend (Who will sign up when her internet is working).
She has a ’92 diversion which has just got back to the roadworthy stage, but has a couple of problems.
Firstly she is getting false neutrals – which from reading on here seems to be the thrust bearing. Does anyone have a diagram or photo of where this bearing and additional washers are placed?
Also, the gear lever doesn’t return to centre following a gear change. This means for example after moving up into 2nd you need to tap the lever down to it original position before you are able to upshift to 3rd.
Is the gear lever problem going to be resolved by the thrust washer also – or is it likely to be something else?
Are their any online manuals available? We have a Haynes, but I was able to get a really good manual online for my bike (CBR1000f ) so was hoping the same kind of thing is knocking around for a Diversion
Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve and welcome.
With the gear change it may be worth taking the linkage apart and giving it a clean and regrease as this is the easiest first step. There may just be a bit of crud in the linkage.
I don't know of a workshop manual available online. Hoepfully someone else has a link.

I think I have a Chilton as well as a shop manual available in PDF. PM me if you needed.

The Diversion clutch release bearing is behind the big clutch cover. Also check the operating spindle bearings and top seal. They are fond of packing up and the oil seal can let water into the engine. If the bearing surface on clutch pressure plate is cored use a thrust washer on both sides of the new thrust bearing race. Also give it plenty of grease as the engine oil tends to get centrifuged away from the clutch centre.
I imagine the Honda has a similar layout.

Thanks for all your help guys - looks like the gear change prob is due to a dodgy sping on the gear selection shaft - have picked up a shaft with springs off ebay
