Took the Divvy in for an MOT today - guess what - PASS with no advisories. Nicknamed the "Tractor" by tester! Not bad for an 18 year old bike - really pleased. congrats Mike.....aye they age well but they need looked after...you have obviously looked after yours..

Yesterday I tried to get mine running properly again. But its still being a rotten cow with new problems so I lobbed a screw driver at it,called it all the names under the sun, threatened to weigh it in at the scrap yard or trade it in for a suzuki and then it began to rain. So I had a brew, watched it get wet trough as I couldnt care less about it at that point, smoked god knows how many cigs while I ranted about/at it and then wrapped it up for the day. I hate my bike. What should be a simple fix is making my arse itch and giving me headaches and the family are rolling their eyes and staying out of the way. However,I have put too much time and effort into it now to give up on it,with new carbs and coils it SHOULD run. If not then Ill set fire to it.

I might fire up and wash mine. Last time I rode it there was precipitation and it got dirty. Cleaned the bugs off it though. I might even ride it and spy on the mechanics who are changing the swivel hub bearings on the 4WD.

Today I finished cleaning up the wiring from my headlight (as I had just converted from running my headlight off the XJ loom to running it off the battery via relays and fitted a relay that kills the lights when I hit the starter to reduce the draw from the battery on cold starts.
I know, I know, should have used the choke for the video lol
The dual headlights are because I have a SV 650 front end on the bike.
Now I'm waiting for the postman to turn up with the relay for my louder horn and the primer to repair the panels where I was hit in January.

mounted a cheap camera via a detatchable mobile phone mount to the front fairing Good idea to use the suction cup on the screen....and the spring cable to save from losing it...although have you checked how far it swings back if it comes off.....wouldn't fancy getting skelped with the camera... ....I used a bracket fitted to my lower screen bolts and from sitting on the bike it looked like it was catching a perfect picture.....oh oh no it didn't ....it slid upwards and I had over an hours footage of the sky during the JR13...

Ah man i used to love her but it seem like i have been spoilt by the newer sexier model :-p anyway MOT due soon, so has to be road worthy and i need a backup incase i seriously mess any thing up on the service of the new one.

I need a backup in case I seriously mess any thing up on the service of the new one. Regards Flymo There is nothing to mess up. Spark plugs won't need to come out (now they are a pain in the arse to get to), so oil and filter, and clean the air filter. The throttle body synchronisation is simple, but won't need doing unless it was set wrong from the factory

Your not joking about the spark plugs been a pain to get to ! but now i know :-), syncro was done after i fitted the scotoiler, thanks to Fiasco for the loan of his gauges, really must buy some :-) but pretty much just gonna follow the service notes to be sure

I'm new to forum but thought I would chime in!
Not today but last night I had my first proper tinker on my new XJ600s(1999 Model 15k miles).
Looks immaculate but to be sure figured I will service it, so far I've changed oil and filter, new fuel filter, lubed/checked chain and sprockets, Lubed all pivets(stands, footrests etc), adjusted the clutch cable and sprayed a bit of penetration oil around the rear shock preload adjuster as its fing solid and rides to hard for my non existent weight.
Over the weekend I will fit 4 new iridium plugs, ignition advancer, remove the rear mud guard extender(it's too excessive for my taste), hopefully get the rear preload moving (anyone got tips for this?) and general clean until the rest of my parts come! (waiting on my K&N air filter, fresh fuel lines, fork seals and Dynojet ket)

Weekend job, not exactly today: Rode out with some friends on Thursday to a bike festival, old bikes (min. 30y.o.) show/racing around a nearby village. My bike came home thoroughly crudded up so the exhausts came off for the annual Spring clean on Saturday. Paint was peeling off the collectors (which it has done every year) but this time holes appeared where the rust used to be.......oh woe is me. All re-assembled we, Mrs Pilgrim and I, rode off Sunday to find out how far those wind turbines actually are on the horizon.......much extra noise emitting from under the bike. No real surprise, it's a '97 N so not so young now. Looking at the pipes available I've ordered some downpipes from Sandy Bike Spares, cheapest in SS. They'll have to do the next 17 years by which time it will qualify for racing around the streets in the nearby village.

Never mind faffing about with luggage... ...get those bloody bars fitted and see what they're like. Well after a long wait...heres what they are like.....
Don't know how I missed seeing the damage before .....I suppose I was focusing on the height and angle....there is no damage to the end of the bars so I don't think they have been down , I suspect the bike they were on has been tied down by the bars causing the kink....decided to keep the original bars and fit new grips.

Yes they are the ones alan. I've already a pair of Marvings from Wemoto when they were around £180, they're another £100 now.

Well....after all the waiting you post a pic of D9 handlebars, (of which I am very familiar thankyou), and then another pic of D6 handlebars, (familiar with those too), complete with new grips! I am gobsmacked

Spent a free couple hours on the bike yesterday, bit of fettling to the rear brake as it was woeful to use. Striped down and cleaned the calliper, cleaned the disk, new pads, put a Goodridge braided hose on and bleed through some nice clean fluid. unbelievable how much difference its made I should have cracked on with it sooner really. Plus looks much prettier . Next weekend I will have to do the front to match however!
