My forks are goosed, both having a wee bit of play, causing continual leaks.
The shop reckons that the replacement slider bushes come ready fitted to a stanchion, which means replacing the stanchion, couple this to the other bits and pieces that are needed for the overhaul I'm looking at £400 - pre labour for a bike worth .. maybe... £700.
I have scoured the entire island and no-one has a pair of used forks for sale, so, does anyone know if there is an alternative pair that will fit the Divvy 900. I reckonn it will be cheaper to change the forks, brakes and wheel, than overhaul the existing ones.
Any Ideas...anyone?

Unless they are pitted I can't see why you would need new fork stanchions - new bushes should be enough. They go in the slider tops just below the fork seals.
Edit: Its worth watching ebay. They do come up from time to time.

I agree with CD and stanchions were only £98 each when I got them, can't see why it would be £400.
Easy enough job to strip the forks.

As CD said, you can buy the bushes separatly, as they are a wear item, they cant be part of the stantion, lots of folk change them, try Fowlers.

I think thats what I'd expect to pay per stanchion/leg not including the sliders.
If yours are pitted or bent there's another post suggesting a rechroming service. But the forks will still need new bushes and hopefully the bottoms of the sliders have not worn.
For the money the shop wants you could get a new front end from ebay.

Nah the shop got all the prices from Yamah just to give me an idea and the oppotunity to source for myself. Anyway, the bit we can't get replacements for are the slider/shim/spacer things at the vey bottom of the stantion, I spoke to Fowlers (Thanks HRH Penfold) and mentioned this part, but the guy said these were not like 'Normal' forks.
Has anyone else come across this problem?
I can source stantions at £80 each, however, I don't want to buy these things to have them arrive without the slider/shim/spacer at the bottom.

Sorry if this sounds dim, but cant you reuse the old spacers with new stanchions/legs. Alternatively have the old legs rechromed and continue with all the original parts.

The spacers are worn, the stantions are fine, I can buy new top bushes, but the bottom bushes *apparently* can only be bought, ready fitted to new stantions.

Dont give up just yet. Its worth talking to a small engineering/machine shop. Or maybe its possible to fit some standard DX/DU bushes like these - www.vardhmanbearings.com/dubush.htmOr watch fleabay for some crashed low(er) mileage forks to pick the best bits from.
