Hi,
How easy is it to change the rear shocker on a D9 bearing in mind my total numptiness with things mechanical?
I'm also thinking of adding a rear hugger at the same time.

I takes quite some time as the bolts will probably be siezed up. You might also find the rocker bearings are going home.
Its possible to cut a hole in the left hand side of the rear mudguard to access the rear shock top mount bolt. But, when I did mine the (supposedly captive) bolt spun around so I had to remove the rear mudguard anyway. It's quite fiddly but only needs to slip back about 12" so no need to remove it completely from the bike.
I was lucky because the rear frame and shocker top mount had rust and almost no paint from stone chips. Had I left the mudguard on I'd have never known and not been able to tackle it before more serious harm was done.
