Finally got a chance last week to do a quick lashup with the alternator coils you kindly sent down (saved me unrouting the existing coils cable right under the bike and tank) and had the same output (only marginally charging) as my existing alternator coils. Got another rectifier off ebay for 99p (I'd already tried a 'supposedly good' one with no change) and lo and behold, the extra 2.5volts I was looking for.
Do you want me to return the coils at Postcombe meet? I'll of course refund the postage and get you a pint, or do you want to sell them so I've a spare set (I can't see me getting rid of Beryl, she's worth more to me than I'd get for her, so when I upgrade I'll have a second bike)?
If you still want to sell them, how much do you want for them?
