Hi everyone, picked up my first d9 today, love it, had an hours shakedown on the way home and was very comfortable etc, fuel guage doesn't work but i understand this problem and the fix for it, my question is regarding th tacho, i noticed that at a fairly constant maintained speed my tacho needle seemed to move freely up and down the rev range +/- about 1500rpm, despite me not moving the throttle, its fine on tickover and when you rev it it nips up and down as it should, so its doing its job but not very accurately it would seem, has anyone ever seen this before and is this something to fix or live with? i wouldn't say it bothered me but i was curious to know if it was a common problem or if anyone could shed any light?? many thanks in advance everybody, Pete.

My tacho is rock steady with the road speed. You are sure its not the clutch. Otherwise, have a look at the throttle position sensor it uses the tacho during its setup. Maybe a wire or screw is loose. A wandering system voltage is another possibility. Check the alternator wiring (integral regulator), battery terminals, voltages, etc.
