![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) Hello. Name is John, I'm new to biking and have had an XJ600 (divy) for about a year. I live on the Wirral and had a Peugeot scooter to get me through the Mersey Tunnel as two wheelers go free, cars pay £1.40 each way. Decided that I wanted to try a bike and found that I felt more at home on a big bike than a scooter. Did my training on a Kawasaki 500 . Regret to say that I was too heavy for it and the instructor kept telling me off for being in 5th at 30 mph saying I should be in top. Started looking for a bike and liked the look of the Divy so I bought it., Us it mainly for commuting . Because I'm new I need some help. I was checking the oil and could not see through the window so I draqined the oil. The window cleared and the oil looked OK so I returned it. (I will change it soon though) When I started riding the bike the red oil light came on but went off after half a mile. The strange thing is that it did not come on till I started riding. Any body got any ideas please. At the moment I am more puzzled than worried John B ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png)

Hi John! Welcome to the club! I wouldn't worry too much about the oil light comimg on. As they say " They all do that , Sir" Just top up your oil a little and the problem will disappear Charlie ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Hi John
Welcome! The oil light is NOT an oil pressure light, its an oil level light that is quite sensitive to keeping the oil level at the top of the sight glass. I had a similar problem when I had my 600 even though the oil was near the top, the warning light would come on for the first few miles if I had left the bike on the side stand. Hope this helps to put your mind at ease.
Regards

Hi John,
Good to see another local on the site.
Although I don't commute through the tunnels, I love the feeling of peeling off to the left and going through the free lane at the tolls on the few occasions I use them.
What colour divvi do you ride and which part of Liverpool do you work in? Was it you on a green 600s that I said hello to by London road the other day? I commute in from the north end of town on a burgundy 600s with a top box and work by paddy's wigwam.

Hi Justso. My bike is red. (I would say it was Burgundy but everybody would say I was really Posh) I used to work near Hanover Street. Sods law worked against me. I was going through every day. Then I realised how much money I was spending taking the car through. So I eventually got my scooter and started going in on that. About 2 months later I changed jobs and now I work in Heswall. (really really posh.) John
