Hi
Anyone have any idea what this may be??
I gave my front brakes , calipers, lines, backs and disks and real good clean. The disks were really dirty and have come up a treat but!!!
When I break I get a hissing noise, the breaking is fantastic with no problems... i have looked over the fronts again and again and can't see anything ... not even a snake ;D ;D

It is probably the slight vibration of the pads. I get it on my 900 but the brakes are fine.

Did you clean out the holes in the disc as well. i read on another site, that if these aren't cleaned, the discs will score.
This is why bike discs dont seem to get the same scores in as cars do..................................... hmm, might also be related to the low milages that most bikes have on them as well ;D
Apparently the holes scour any debris off of the pads.

Those holes do get caked up - whenever I remove discs from my bike I run an appropriately sized drill through the holes by hand to clear them. Not a problem with my new wavey discs.....

I used a gereral breaking systen cleaner, it said that disks are ok. I also cleaned out the holes. The cleaner is a paint on wash off and stubburn bits I used a drill bit......... ( no i didn't) a sponge and a soft paint brush. Any other idea's would be welcome Ps the disks are really clean, and the cleanner has stripped away the residue left on both disks probably over years

I've noticed on the two new bikes I've had in the reasonably recent past that the brakes hissed until they'd bedded in, so I'm guessing that it's just normal for clean-as-new brakes.
So long as the performance is OK I'd not worry, as it'll almost certainly go away after a few hundred miles.
