Hi,
While I've got a captive audience so to speak.
I've cobbled together a nonfango kit for panniers & top box. Only problem is the old indicators are proving really stubborn to remove. I've tried WD40 etc. but no luck, any thoughts?

did you really want to keep the old indicators intact ?
if a good soaking of wd40 isn't working then i'd hack em off ;D

Mike, I'm surprised they are being so stubborn - they have a big (17mm I think, but may be only 14mm) nut on them, which usually provides ample leverage. Are yours standard ones or old replacement ones?

Mine are standard ones. The rack has indicators on so I don't need the old ones. They just twist round when spanner applied.
However the spring inside the rubber protection is quite tough & awkward to get at.

It is quite common for these to have to be hacked off as they seize and are very difficult to remove.

Have you got a dremel or similar you could cut the nut with ?

Or if you have some ACF-50 use that as a releasing agent - much better than WD40, it has a capillary action so will creep into the threads.

Had a similar problem with a front indicator. In the end I (just) managed to get an angle grinder inside the fairing and split the nut. I think there'd be room to get into the back ones, at least with the wheel out.
Good luck - Bob
