Afternoon all! With the colder weather coming again my thoughts have turned to fitting plastic handguards to my 900 divvy to protect my hands from the windblast and hopefully keep my fingers warmer. A few years ago I brought some universal guards from a bike shop but there was no way to fit them and after much modification I threw them away. Has anyone found any thet can be fitted and where did you get them from. A photo of them fitted would be even better. I prefer this idea to the hand muffs that you can buy and fit. Happy biking!

Most plastic guards are designed for trail bikes where the front brake pipe goes upwards out of the master cylinder so they won't fit a conventional road setup.
I did try another set with a single mounting clamp that went onto the handlebars near the switches, but it was virtually impossible to route the cables round it (though that was on a Honda so might be a bit different from the Divvy).
All I can suggest is, make sure when you buy that you can get your money back if they don't fit.

In my honest opinion, if you really need all that lot you should be in a car.

kevinbrixhamdivvy, did you find a set of hand guards that fitted or at least could be modified to fit?
I don't wish to fit muffs but prefer the hand guard option and would be interested in your experiences.
H/B muffs are just too much!

My hands are colder on my BMW 1150GS with heated grips, than on my divvy 900 without grips.(until I fit the muffs)
The hand guards are there as guards, not devices to keep the wind off the hands.
The turbulence created by them on the BM is enough to give me painful fingertips. The muffs as seen in the above photo are better than having heated grips, or hand guards.

Has anyone fitted any guards to their divy then ? Does it require a bar or master cyl change ?
Re-enforced like Bark busters or non re-enforced ?
The big blanket and mitt type things would be very warm but...

but you like being cold Just pondering myself about guards, the muffs might press against the levers, even if it was only enough to put the brake light on it's too much. I've been eyeing up 6 pint plastic milk bottles perhaps a more rigid type of plastic container could be fitted, I.e. tie wrapped or bodged some other way. I'm not looking for pretty, warm would do!

no I don't like being cold but muffs and blanket are a bit much for me. I know that they would be fantastic and keep you nice and warm..just not too sure that's all. I sent off an email to bark busters (an Aussie company) and they replied with the following info. We will soon release our new Storm Handguard with a mounting system suitable for many road bikes. To fit the new Storm (S1) handguard you will need about 20mm of free straight handlebar space to the inside of the handlebar controls. See this link for images and more information www.barkbusters.net/products/2.htmlThis product should be available at bike shops late January. In Aus. The left handle bar side would be fine but on the right side I think master cylinder is a problem. This is with standard bars. Might be able to modify them a bit

Today I took the muffs off of the GS & put them on the Divvy. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Now I've had a bit more time riding the V-Strom I can say that its hand guards do make a difference, but not a huge one. A bigger advantage might be that they would keep my hands a bit drier if it rains heavily, but I've not had a chance to test that yet.
But I can say that I did about 150 miles on it today - mainly sunny but cold - and my hands were just about OK in Hein Gericke claw gloves without any inners. I'm so used to not having heated grips that I didn't think to turn them on!

Muffs performed as expected, summer gloves, minus 1c last night. No cold hands
