Like many Divvy owners, I have a fractured centre stand. Rather than try and patch it up like another site member has done I'm looking at getting a metal fabricator & welder to make a new one up for me and then powder coat it.
Has anyone out there already done this ? If so, did it do well ?

I thought about it but the geometry would be decidely hard to get right. So I tacked it up on the bike to keep it aligned then welded a reinforcing plate to it. Needs another on the front side. Gas welding would last better than arc. But I only have basic arc gear.
I grit blasted and painted it. Still gone rusty this winter so next time it will be powder coated.
If the tube is circular, a metal sleeve inside the weld area might also help.

What you suggest makes good sense to me. I'll probably get the centre stand off first and do a full inspection before committing to anything.

Dont forget to fully disconnect the battery and charging system if arc welding on the bike. Its easy to blow the electronics. If you can hold the broken stand in-line with a threaded rod it would be less likely to bind on the frame when finished. But getting accurate measurements under the bike is a pain, so I tacked mine on the bike and welded properly on the bench. IMO the metal is decidedly thin for such a heavy bike. Do watch out for centre stand return spring and rear shock linkage when planning the reinforcement. Appearances are deceptive regarding actual clear space around the retracted stand.
