From: adbru2 (Original Message) Sent: 12/22/2004 3:13 PM Hi Folks, Came across this website on another forum, not exactly a fun ride but certainly even the website has an effect. www.kiddofspeed.com/chapter1.html Quote "I travel a lot and one of my favorite destinations leads North from Kiev, towards so called Chernobyl "dead zone", which is 130kms from my home. Why my favorite? Because one can take long rides there on empty roads. " Any comments ?? Adbru From: DD-FJR Sent: 1/20/2005 7:52 PM Fantastic Site. I have seen this before but she has added a whole load of new stuff now. Got to admire her for the way she states it all as fact with no Political Bu** S**t If you have never seen this site, it is well worth an hour of your time From: knight Sent: 1/20/2005 9:50 PM I've seen it before and it really is worth reading. I'll have a look at this to see if there is any new stuff since I last looked . She tells it like it is and makes it interesting a few decent piccies as well. Richard

Last year, a BBC programme (Horizon I think) showed that radiation is quite possibly not as harmful as thought. They said there is an area if Iran that is naturally more radioactive (background radiation) than the Chernobyl area, yet the people have fewer cancers than the world wide average. The prog said scientists are now thinking that low levels of radiation could be beneficial rather than harmful. But they don't know the shape of the graph curve and its not possible/ethical to run experiments simply to find out.
They weren't demeaning the damage to public health with the Ukraine, just saying that after 20 years its turned out to be a great deal less bad than expected.
