Recently replaced frontsuspension with progressive springs to eliminate wobble. Wobble is gone, but at speed above 85mph now the front starts shaking! Above 100mph things get interesting! That is to say, with the original spring 115mph was comfortable and now it is impossible.
Do you have a similar experience and, moreover, what solves this problem?
Details: - 2002 xj900s - tyres Michelin Pilot Road 2 - Givi topcase, the main amplifier of the initial wobble, though I can't live without it - tried all frontsuspension settings from soft to hardest, doesn't change behaviour really - same for rear suspension

You sure you put the springs the correct way round and refilled the forks with the correct grade and amount of oil. did you completly strip the front end?

If you had a wobble there before and now it's more of a shake, I would suspect front wheel bearings. You'll have had the wheel off to replace fork springs might have worsened matters with an allready dicky bearing? Muppet talk now! You've checked you've tightened all fork clamp bolts/forkbrace etc? hth Trev

I have replaced them recently, please galnce at front bars post, and did not notice any wobble at the moment, being honest I do not drive fast but after the replacement I drove on a long straight over 180 km/h for a while and not probelm at all, I support front bearings idea, although never had this failure yet despite the mileage of mine (96.000 km).
good luck

Out of round front tyre/ out of balance front tyre.... susp was soft enough to absorb before but now the shakes being passed on? Are you missing a balance weight or are tyres new and not been balanced properly?? Good Luck Chris

How many miles has your front tyre done?

Quote: Recently replaced frontsuspension with progressive springs to eliminate wobble. What do you mean by "wobble". Harder srings wont affect anything to do with wheels bouncing or steering flapping. They simply stiffen the ride and reduce fork dive on the brakes. The discs will mask the sideways slack, but 96000 on the same front bearings. They must be at the top of the suspect list. BTW I use ultaseal tyre sn*t, but only had a wheel shake problem when a balance weight fell off. I'd also look at the back suspension linkages. If they are worn the rear wheel cant be properly controlled by the suspension spring and damper. If the wheel can be lifted a few mm and stops with a clunk the needle roller bushes under the rear shock are shot.
