I've read in the past the supposed advantage of using a K & N Air filter, apart from the obvious washability of the filter does anyone think that they are better performance wise then the standard Yamaha Part ? Also the KN Oil Filter, has anyone used them and found them to be better then the the standard Yamaha Part ? Thanks

Probably should only use a K&N air filter if you have re-jetted your Carbs as the free flow will probably make your engine run far too weak.
Just my opinion you understand....Gurninman or Reaper will confirm Im sure.

I've had a K&N air filter in my divvy 9 for 8000 miles now and I have to say it needs cleaning now, noticeable because the mpg before I put it in was about 41mpg (I ride pretty hard) and afterwards was 49-51mpg which was nice. It also picked up better. Anyway the filter needs cleaning as its dropped to 46-47mpg now. Well worth the money. I couldn't find a rejetting kit for a divvy and so i never bothered, its not running lean, the plugs are fine.

Just seen this..... You shouldn't have to re-jet with a standard replacement K&N - it may lean it out slightly, but it would be negligible. Fitting a race can at the same time would make things worse, and may need some work on the fuelling but you only know once you've fitted it and checked the mixture.

I have read of people rejet and getting a smoother ride with a little more poke but have not been able to find anyone who does a rejet kit or anyone who can tell me the best size jets to run.
Can any one help ??
Would also like to run a K&N airfilter I give the bike a hard time often 2 up so do not want to lean it out.
Cheers Steve

As Gman says, a K&N standard replacment inside a standard airbox should be fine. But dont bother with individual pod filters you'll never get the carbs running right (and no doubt the intake noise will drive you mad).
Sorry cant help with jets. You could talk to Allens near Nottingham. (Google should find them).
