Hi, I just bought a '96 900. Have been lurking here for a couple of weeks and noticed that some people have changed the stock handlebars for off-road ones.
What's the advantage and what are peoples' experiences?
BTW - I'm in Fremantle, W. Australia. If anyone else is in the area, give me a hoi off list: mikeclns AT iinet DOT net DOT au

I have the standard bars which for me are the ideal width, but the stretch forward is a bit much for me. I fitted a pair of bar "risers". Due to the angle of the headstock they dont really raise the bars but they do pull them back about 2". Its now much more comfortable and I feel more in control. My brother fitted similar stuff to his D600. His head is now above the wind noise and he says the bike steers better (easier riding position = better control).
