Hi all Based in Llandudno so was free to ride for pleasure again yesterday. Tuesday dawned fine and warm so, after walking the dogs it was time to head out. I headed West on A55, fuel at Tesco outside Bangor, then stayed in the same direction via Caernarfon and on along north coast of Lleyn peninsula looking across to Anglesey on other side of Menai Straits. After Clynnogfawr right at roundabout and up and up into thick mist and eventually rain but on I went, the destination would make it worthwhile - honest Drop down into Nefyn, visibility improving, right turn towards Morfa Nefyn, then on ever West until meeting B4413 from Pwllheli. turn right and it's a swift run down into Aderdaron, achingly picturesque and on another day, definitely worth a stop for coffee and cake at Becws Islwyn. Not today though, turn right before bridge and head up steeply out of village, roads getting narrower but enough to squeeze by the seldom spotted traffic from other direction - only mad folk head to the far westerly point of the Lleyn peninsula ! The last camp site was left far behind me and I wound back and forth higher and higher until soon I reach the end of the road - absolutely ! I am standing as far West as you can get by road in North Wales, the site of a coastguard station until 1990, and look out post in second world war where up to seventy personnel worked. It is now National Trust land and habitat for mountain hares, choughs and peregrine falcon. Out to sea just under two miles away I can clearly see Bardsey Island, site of the first religious house in Wales, and with the remains of an Augustinian Abbey visible. It was a fab place to ride to and worth getting the bike filthy !- Picnic lunch over, home via Pwllheli, Porthmadog, Blaenau Ffestiniog and Betws y Coed.

The thing I liked about the Lleyn Peninsular was riding along the North coast you could see the South coast at the same time.
I also very much enjoyed doing a circuit of Anglesey. I would have suggested it as a club run except it is a bit short for a whole day and a bit long for an afternoon's run assuming you are based in Llandudno, which I was.

That was the fist divvy run I did it was organised by Aquaknight. Started and finished at the A5 services, Oswestry. It's when I met Reaper aka Paul who became my best mate. Lost count how many runs I've been on and organised since then. Can't wait til all this is over and we can all meet up again.

It'd be great to do meet up and do a run with some fellow owners - look forward to the day when such an event can happen - what fun it will be !
In the meantime, I've been venturing into some home maintenance, pretty much an unknown for me. I changed oil and filter, replaced final drive oil and am well down the road to fitting some Oxford Hotgrips !! Taking me ages but I'm enjoying it - thanks to Haynes manual !!

Hi alahack57 Could you give me that exact location please. I have "what three words" app if that helps.
Hoping to get to Llandudno for weekend in Feb. so might follow your tyre marks.
Thanks

Hi there I don't really know what the exact location is called, sorry, but get to Aberdaron and head up the hill to the right of the road you will have entered the village on. Look out for a National Trust car park facing you as you reach the centre and you go to the right of that. The headland seems to be called Uwchmynydd and the spot you want to get to is Arfordir Treftadaeth Penrhyn Llลทn - the nature reserve. You will be passing a few smallish camp sites along the way. Postcode on google maps is LL53 8BY - the roads don't seem to be numbered once you reach Aberdaron on B4413. if I can help more please contact me - and for some other nice roads you might try whilst local.

Ok thanks for coming back - quick too! I followed your route ok to Aberdaron and took the right turn and followed a westerly direction. Narrow roads and maybe half mile before the road ends there is a farm cafe sort of thing. Anyway at the end there are great views, and the island is clearly visible. This was all done on google maps. If you have a smart phone, the what three words app is free and fantastic for locating. The app breaks the entire planet into 3metre squares, and each square is labelled with three unique words. Thanks again and might take you up on your last offer.

Of course the drawback is - it does rely on you being able to receive a phone/data signal.

The place you're looking for is Mynydd, which is at grid reference
52.798232, -4.760539
Just copy and paste into Google maps.
Nice secluded beach at penllech, park in the car park then walk down the beach path.
52.874476, -4.667138
Not often you see anyone else on there.
Dave.
