As above really. Acquired a 2003 registered XJ900S back in May. Not that much wrong with it other than it needing a bit of TLC - which is where the questions will start.

Hello and welcome. Must be one of the last D900's. Indeed fire away with any questions.

Thank you for the welcome. Here she is - She's called "Eile" - pronounced "Ella" - the Irish for "other". Not standard as you can see. Someone's fitted blue-spot calipers and braided lines, she's got a full stainless exhaust and a rear hugger. All sensible mods, I think. The silly little top-box and carrier are gone (the carrier's available if anyone wants it) in place of an SW-Motech fitment for my huge Givi top-box. She also came with the Yamaha panniers - I was looking for one with the Givi pannier mounts as I already have a full set of Givi boxes on my Transalp. So, like I said, just need to treat her to a bit of TLC, get the Garmin mount fitted, that sort of thing.
Oh, she came with an LED rear light that's not great - there's hardly an change in brightness between the rear and brake lights. So I'm going to change it for a good second-hand standard rear light that I got off ebay.

Bike looks good. What's the current mileage? You probably aware the blue spots are a popular upgrade on the D9. Worth checking centre stand as they are known to break/ corrode. Also I'm sure you're aware of the weight when moving the bike around. As I get older, my D9 seems to get heavier. Thought about led upgrade for lights but didn't bother. Can't remember last time I rode it at night. Anyhow, keep in touch. Atb.

Hello again, Spike.
The current mileage is a shade over 34,000 miles.
I'd twigged that the blue-spots were a common upgrade, but I think she still has her original master cylinder. Strange as most folk seem to change this as well. Which one should I be looking for? I suppose the obvious one would be from a Fazer, I suppose?
As for the centre stand - she doesn't have one. Which is going to be interesting for all sorts of jobs, such as taking the rear wheel off. Still, there's a hoist in the shed so I can at least dangle her from that. Not ideal and I wouldn't be happy leaving her like that for any length of time.

Hi and thanks for info. Should be loads of life left in it at that mileage. £172 for a new stand from Mr Yamaha. Used ones are like rockin horse poo! You watch out when using that hoist. Not sure about the master cylinder. I suppose use the same one that the upgraded calipers came from. But if your brakes are ok - I would leave it alone. Mine is still on original calipers. Brakes are ok, but I'm no racer ok - all the best for now.

That is very similar to mine, June 2003 in silver. Your frame looks white in the picture, mine is silver. Also have the higher screen, but has the three Givi box kit. Centre stand still good. No mods that I am aware of. Your seat looks different to mine. 11000 miles only so still plenty to go. Does not get out enough, but as only here in the winter there are not many good days to ride.

The frame is actually pale grey. It's been powder coated sometime in the past - which was fun when I came to register the bike here in Ireland as the frame number hadn't been protected. That took a while to uncover.
The seat does appear to have been rebuilt previously also. Not complaining it's quite comfortable.
One thing I have noticed is that the stone guards on the forks are missing. So, someone's had the forks to bits at some point and forgot to replace them. I'm also wondering if the seals have been put in upside down as there's a slight listing of oil on both fork legs. Looks like I'll have to have the forks off as well.
A centre stand is looking like a must at the moment - and that'll be the stand, the mounting bolts and the springs as well. Did I read somewhere that a Fazer 1000 centre stand is a possible alternative? Or am I going mad?

If the seat is comfy - that's a bonus. About the forks - the earlier D9's were not fitted with stone guards. So I fitted gaiters to mine from new almost. Think I'm on my second or third set. Got em from Ebay but not sure of the actual source.
You might be able to source the bits for the stand (bolts etc) from a salvage firm, but not sure the Fazer stand will fit - it might do - but not sure. There was talk a while back about someone actually making stands for the D9 but I don't think owt came from it.
Anyhow, all the best - to everyone for 2019.

Morning Bigboss. Welcome to the site and Happy New Year.
I think a photo of the new bike would be in order. Is it a 600 or 900?
