For those of you who are thinking of moving over to a Zumo, you might be interested in reading about my experience of the device (up to now) after having previously used TomTom Riders for a couple of years. www.mcqart.com/xj600/garmin_zumo.htm

Thanks for an informative review
The question is will Garmin drop the price when the Rider 2 is released or just wait until the day after I buy a Zumo?

BMW also do a bluetooth option for their System 5, but it doesnt work and costs mega bucks. The BMW helmets are made by Schuberth.
Actually I can't see the bluetooth being much use. The BMW and Schuberth branded helmets are supposed to be the quietest hats on the road. But, if my System 5 is quiet, other brands must be like sitting under a rocket launch pad. I use Moldex ear plugs which make me almost totally deaf. Anything less doesn't cut out enough noise. With plugs like that I can't imagine being able to hear a helmet speaker .

Sorry DD-FJR, but the website was down for a few days due to a DNS problem with UK2.net. I've totally given up on the MP3 side of the Zumo because I just can't bear the poor music-audio, not even as something to have in the background! I remain very pleased with every other aspect of the device though and the only thing I'd put on a Zumo Wishlist would be a simple "Avoid Motorways" button like on the TTR. I should probably mention too, that being an Italian company, Nolan aren't particularly fast at responding to anything. I ordered a cable to connect my PMR (Alan 456R) to the helmet but have been waiting for over 4 weeks for it to arrive. The supplying dealer ( www.customlids.co.uk ) has tried to gee them up a bit but to no avail so far. "Manyana"

Forgot to mention that apart from the regular road maps, the Zumo is also compatible with Garmin's range of TOPO Maps, so you can ride to your destination (say in the Lake District) and then swap SDcards to allow you to go on a guided (or even pre-planned) walk using the Ordnance Survey Topographical Maps. There are different cards available for different regions. More... www8.garmin.com/cartography/topo/region.jsp?RegionPK=19016 Tom
