Hi all. Pete the newbie here. can anyone advise me with my problem. i have a 96 XJ600S which i removed the fairing. i fitted a streetfighter headlamp with cheap headlamp brackets and re used the old fairing mounted clocks on a aluminium bracket i made which bolts to the top yolk.
The only problem is now when i apply the front or rear brake, as well as the rear brake light coming on as it should, the headlamp sidelight and clock bulbs light up. as well as this, the left hand side indicator flasher in the clocks flashes but when i activate the right side indicator, it works the same ok but the clock warning flasher does not work-only on the left side.
The bikes MOT has run out and obviously it will fail an mot if the lights come on every time i brake. I have looked at it time and time again but cannot work out what is wrong. i used to be quite good with bike wiring problems but that was 38 years ago.. anyone had a similar problem when street fightering an divvy 600S ? Pete

Sounds like, it’s missing an Earth, lights do funny things when the usual path to earth is blocked, did you connect all the Earth leads to the alloy bracket, then connect the bracket to the battery Earth?

No i did'nt. whilst i was typing the last post out, it did occur to me that the clocks were originally in the non metal conducting pod in the frame mounted fairing.i'll take the clocks off ans see whats what then. thanks for suggestion, i think you got something there.
