The coast to coast for 2018 will be over the weekend of the 8th and 9th September, Bikes need to be under 125cc, or old, or a 250 Honda or let me know what you plan on riding and I will let you know if it qualifies The run starts as usual at the Beacon in Whitehaven, and ends on the sea front at Scarborough, Hopefully I will manage to get there and back without losing my engine to frame bolt, not that I have fixed it since. More details to follow, Be there or be somewhere else

Is the route the same as last year? I just need to ensure our support vehicle and driver are fully prepared for the task in hand!!

Looks like it’s the Honda 90 Well the weekend was a great one, many thanks to Mac and Debs for the van support, Things got off to a good start, though the rain came and threw everything at us for the whole day, whynrose pass was interesting, the little S90 lacked enough power to climb the steepest hill in first gear, so came to a halt, Martin stopped but despite having both wheels locked was sliding back down the hill, whilst I was laughing at that, Ian junior came up, swerved to miss Martin and ended up going off the road and Lying the bike down, oh how I laughed at that all the way to Ambleside, Martin neededMac to restart on the hill, pushing him to assist traction on the steep incline, Issues with Martins bike meant he retired, his bike in the van and him next to a warm heater, we cracked on, as did the rain, just before Thirsk the S90 reduced what little power it has, then a mile or so later died, MAC kindly volunteered his steed for me to ride, which I gladly accepted, what a hero, so me and Ian cracked on towards Scarborough in the pouring rain, stopping occasionally to wring out the gloves, but we eventually made it, The accommodation turned out to be first class, very posh, we ate and drank, and I tried to sell Martin my Jawa 350, but the day had taken its toll, so by 10 it was bed time, We set off for home, but just before Sutton bank the RD200 went onto one cylinder, and it struggled to do any sort of speed, we arranged to meet up with the support vehicle, but Ian Junior is an awkward bugger and was determined to coax the RD back, he even had to get off and push it up some of the steeper hills, so it managed to stay out of the van, and get home, Ian was well chuffed and reckoned that it was the best time he has had on a motorbike, The negatives are that I have two bikes that need engine work now, but that’s the way it goes, hopefully it will just be a valve or piston, a quick look shows the 90 to have a good spark and some compression, but it only takes a half hour to strip the head and barrel off for a proper look.

Another C2C has passed with a weekend of incidents and entertainment. My Suzuki 110 made it there and back without issue. As Ian said I graciously lent it to him when his bike expired, without any hesitation, so he could continue as run leader . Without this selfless act we may have gotten lost much more than 3-4 times! Thanks to Ian for organising and Martin & Ian for the company.

The RD managed more than one hundred miles with a hole in the piston the size of a 20p piece, suggestions so far are to braze(weld was the actual suggestion) a 20p piece in, but I guess a new piston is the way to go.

Sounds like you had another adventurous c2c, respect to all the runsters, weather was pants here all day Saturday. So what's happened to Martin and the knackered Kwak then, more oil, (or rather the lack of) issues?

A big well done to everyone who took part, not forgetting support drivers. We travelling south on the Saturday and weather was grim until we cleared Birmingham - so you deserved your beers for riding in that lot. What was the cause of the holed piston Ian?

A big well done to everyone who took part, not forgetting support drivers. We travelling south on the Saturday and weather was grim until we cleared Birmingham - so you deserved your beers for riding in that lot. What was the cause of the holed piston Ian? Probably lack of due care and attention, we noticed on the day that it had two different plugs fitted, so maybe the previous owner just bunged in any old plugs, it was running ok, so was never checked, I have only owned it for 3 years though. I am hoping that the S90 is a valve or piston, but if it’s much more it could be time for a replacement modern version in 125cc form from lifan, parts for pre 66 S90 Honda’s are rare in the UK, though some are available from the USA, I have a new valve and piston, so hoping that’s the fix.

So what's happened to Martin and the knackered Kwak then, more oil, (or rather the lack of) issues? Turned out to be a fouled spark plug. Couldn't be fixed at the side of the road in pishing rain so Martin had no choice but to jump in the warm Transit
