Well a cracking day out. Weather was a bit up and down but all in all a decent day. Roads were 'interesting' in places. Was feeling sorry for Fern and Pete on those sportsbikes!! Nice route and stops. Even visited Bobs old Spitfire station (during the war) at Popham. Nice ride home and even got to try out the new lights and they are BRIGHT!!! Thanks all for a great start to the years biking.

Back myself after a leisurely bimble home... Bike straight in the garage as I cant bear to look at how much mud I've brought back with me lol.. Excellent run, quite challenging due to the road conditions and the fact my bike has got a fat ass Most enjoyable and well worth the effort.... thanks Bobh and people for the company Chris

Nice ride home and even got to try out the new lights and they are BRIGHT!!! They certainly are. Never any doubt when it was you behind me! Apologies for the unexpectedly damp weather - and the attendant grey gunge that seems to have coated everyone's rear ends. I'll have to hose down my jacket, as well as the bike, tomorrow. Anyway thanks to all who turned up and made the planning worthwhile.

Not home yet as I'm not going home !
Interesting and challenging, I concur.
thoroughly enjoyable day out, as usual.
Many thanks to Bobh & Martin for putting it together.
thanks to the others for your company.
p.s. Bob, leatherbabe says had no rain at Oakley, glorious sunshine in Bicester. even got a load of washing dry on the line. (should have had a postcombe run)

There are two ( Little and Great) Oakleys near here and unlike yesterday it was bright and sunny today as I am having a new fence and shed Thursday, have been clearing out the latter. There are now 2 Sachs in the spare room... Glad you had a safe and sound run

Thanks for the run Bob - and for the choice of tea break stop - nice easy run home from there. Even had time to start the de-mudding!! Good to meet up with every one again.
Regards
Andy

I see this run has been re-named . Thoroughly enjoyed the day, glad I bunked off work for it. A good turn out for the time of year. There was no outright winner for the Filthiest Bike Competition - or maybe to put it in positive parlance, we were ALL winners . Thanks BobH for leading & thanks Beehill for his stint back-marking. Despite my best efforts I found it tricky doing any overtakes, must turn up on a bigger bike next time! Martin.

I see this run has been re-named Those of the southern persuasion may prefer January Jolly. For myself it will always be 'The Frosty Rollocks' Verde used to do the Frosty Rollocks, I know, I went on them. The Jan Jolly has always been the Jan Jolly 😉.

As i recall.... being an old timer.... the Frosty used to be prior to Christmas, and the Jan Jolly, not unsurprisingly in Jan.

Good first run of the year, some interesting roads and the odd wild horse. Bikes are now clean, but now have a veg patch on the drive....Thanks to Bob for leading and staying within the posted speed limits and the back markers for their Stirling work.

For info, I did this run again today with my TVAM chums. Weather was drier, but colder, though many of the roads still had wet and muddy patches so it was by no means straightforward. There was also a canoe event happening on the Kennet and Avon Canal, which meant a lot of traffic, that held up a few people - someone nearly got swiped off their bike when a canoeist, carrying their craft on their shoulder, swung round sideways.
With more riders and a greater range of riding ability, I spent quite a bit of time pootling along waiting for the next marker to appear in my mirrors. There were 3-4 progressive types who I suspect did pretty much all the marking. It did make me appreciate riding with you lot, who can keep up (more so, in most cases)!
The lunch place was much busier, so quite a long wait, but worth it, I think.
Hopefully the weather will be kinder next year.
