Hi all. Pete the newbie, In Worcester, here. I joined the site two days ago asking for help with the location on the rectifier on my 1996 divvy 600. it appears I posted the request to myself.. there has been no replies and I think no views. having difficulty navigating the site. anyway, hope I've cracked it this time. I bought a 96 600s in the summer and decided to café racer it and try and lighten in as much as possible.i removed the rectifier when I was removing pillion footrest hangers and doing other work. due to some time passing, I have forgotten the location of the rectifier but have realized it doesn't bolt on anywhere under the seat area. after trawling the internet, I could not find any info even on youtube as regards it's proper location. the local bike shop looked on their spares microfilm, and the crude Yamaha spares diagram appears to indicate it could be located behind the right hand lower side panel. is this correct?. whilst I'm at it, this appears to be A uk site, I saw something that mentioned "rides out" this sunday, are there any meets, rides out in the midlands, central uk area? thanks all in advance. Pete

Welcome, as far as I can recal they changed the rectifier/regulator after 1995 (1996 on Yank versions )and prior it was situated under the seat on the left and thereafter moved to the right hand side,in front of the main relays
Plenty rideouts, usually anounced on the main forum but there is a thread dealing with them alone. Main Midlands runs Derby and Nuneaton, only dont follow me on the latter, I fell off last time(apart from Air Ambulance runs my Maiden Virgin rideout copybook blotted)

Hi GAv, and thanks for reply. I tried the right hand side in front of the lighting relays held to those brackets on the frame with rubber band type things.
The lead regulator lead that comes out the main harness at the back bottom of the petrol tank just isn't long enough to stretch. I tried everywhere under the seat it would reach with the lead and couldn't find anywhere. I see the unit is bolted on wherever with one m8 sized bolt thru the unit onto a bracket somewhere. the seat won't go on wherever I stuff it underneath.
There does seam to be plenty of room for something behind the left hand side panel but no mounting bracket. the short lead for the until seemed to indicate it came from behind there. Could anyone [there must be someone?] with a divvy 600 1996 single front disc with oil cooler and 4 into 1 as standard bike please have a look for me? I am wanting to tax it next week and get it on the road.
Thanks for the info about rides out. hope you have long recovered from falling off.. Pete

Not being funny but if you have had the tank off are you sure the wire hasnt got trapped and isnt giving the length needed. I know my old XJ 600 which had a four into one(non standard)had the battery on the right and the regulator on the left, however that was a totally different bike, but my Haynes manual definately gives a Diversion circa 1996 with the regulator/rectifyer on the left, within the diaganal part of the frame, sorry they changed it in 1997 not 96 as I stated before, and placed it on the right ,presumably behind the panel cover. Held on with two round ends with allen type fitting countersunk,on the screwheads that should go through the rectifyer housing with the holes therein to the sockets on the frame.
Yep leg OK bar a rather painfull ancle ulcer, not related that being type two diabetic took months to cure.
Stupid off I know one shouldnt blame your tools but I had new boots and not proper motorbike ones at that, and went into a corner having not found the lever to change enough-down the big thumper TLs VTwin engine in the Cagiva didnt like being in too high a gear (the same with the Rotax one in my Mille ,albeit I havent fallen off that, the bike’s rear wheel locked and highsided yours truly off. It broke the brake lever so continuing with just a back brake till getting a replacement from a Suzuki dealership was a bit hairy Despite bailing out of the proper run the next day and the Staff providing some dressings to patch up the deep grazings, it didnt stop me continuing on to Ireland for the Northwest 200, albeit I did spend a Wednesday afternoon in Colleraine Coastal Hospital as my far from slender apendage was twice its normal girth and very many odd colours. The Doc reckoned I had lost a couple of pints of blood so really I should have sought proper medical attention whilst still in England.
after a week back home, went up to Scotland for a club run, with some of the gals and guys off the Warwickshire one. The NW 500 (and even did the Northwest 100 course over on the Isle of Man on a 50cc Aprilia), albeit having bought a van in the interim to take the bike to Inverness in then the tiddler on the Sea Cat to have some fun on in the IOM, so the leg wasnt really a problem. (three North Wests off the old bucket list). Thanks for the wishes. . Please do not let this put you off, anyways hope you can get your bike sorted.

Sorry, I can't help with the location of the rectifier, as I no longer have a D6 or the Haynes manual that went with it.
For info, I don't think any of the D6 variants had a 4-into-1 exhaust, so it looks as if you've got a (usually better, stainless, less prone to rusting) aftermarket exhaust.
Next ride-out is the January Jolly, by the way (see Rides & Meets section). You'd be very welcome, although it's a bit far south to be described as "Midlands".

I now have a 1992 D6 which has been stored for 14 years, so needs some recommissioning. I will try to have a look for the regulator tomorrow.
Have you come across the Worcester bike club? They are based near Perdiswell leisure centre, and organise ride outs every Sunday. I never went on one, and am no longer baed in Worcester so don't know hot they are like.
The Jan Jolly is a long way south for the midlands, but not difficult to get to from Worcester. Down the M5 to Cheltenham, then follow the A40 towards Oxford. The time i went (for the recce breakfast only), I left the A40 near Witney and worked my way round to Abingdon on the small roads.

The Reg/Rec is on the left hand side a little bit forward and lower than the battery, and immediately below and forward of the side panel locating post.
