XJ600 1993 with 9 months not, dodgy wheels, several scotch blocks and a bunch of rust! Not bad for £400!

Good deal and the bonus you found us lot, welcome Bonus? I wouldn't call finding us lot a bonus. More like finding your newly acquired antique table has woodworm

It's a bonus I have a place to be a divvy geek!
I've already stripped off the fairing and parts underneath and painted them. The entire frame is being done as well bit what's the best paint to use? I've seen a can of spray hammerite smooth or should I go for car paint?

Your prep is far more important than they Paint that follows. Make sure as much rust is removed as possible and then coat with a rust neutraliser. Follow this with a couple of coats of etch primer.
You can then apply top coat of choice.

Does Hammerite have a rust neutraliser in it? I've got straight to metal spray and brush on for the hidden parts and will be applying three coats after removing as much rust as possible. The frame is very solid and any rust seems to be only on the surface.
