Wonder if Stuart (xtonthebrain), or anyone else with the Medion unit know if there is a way to map a route on the PC and then upload it into the navigator?
This just came to mind when Ian put the Lakes run up in Mapsource and Autoroute format. Wondered if there was any way of either converting or inputting this into the Medion?

Hi,
Must admit in my naivety (before I'd bought it) I'd assumed that this was a standard thing with these satnavs - it seems not though.
Given that the medion has sometimes come up with some absolutely ridiculous routes, at the moment I tend to work out the route with map point on the PC, then add multiple locations on the medion to force it to use the route I want. Beginning to think that this is defeating the whole point of having one of these...

Thanks, Stuart. In your own time mate - glad to see someones keeping you gainfully employed....
Hi Robin - perhaps I'm too trusting, but I've never double checked the routing against the map. Probably wouldn't matter even if I did as I tend to select 'Non-motorway' and 'Motorbike' routing when I task it, so that kind of throws a kink in the works for any direct line routes it might have taken. Now you've mentioned it though I think I will set it a little test and see what it does.
Yes, I also thought that all satnavs could be programmed via the PC. It wasn't a big dissappointment when I realised it wasn't an option as I really wanted it as a navigational unit. But as we have found, the Medion is capable of far more than what it advertises, so perhaps Stuart will be able to find even more surprises lurking in it's recesses.

Stuart,
Just to keep you posted, I posed the question to Navigon to see what their take on it would be (see below).
Would be cool to prove these guys wrong (and it wouldn't be the first time) - but I don't think the route mapping is something they have even considered - unless of course you can run MS CE on your PC as a secondary OS?? Anyway, not sure the person who replied actually understood the question, especially as they are going on about waypoints and addresses, which is NOT really what I enquired about.
------------------------------------------
Dear Mr. Gray,
On the PDA version it would be possible to get addresses over
to the device and use the "from contacts" button to enter
them as waypoints. On the PNA there is unfortunately no
way to do this.
With kind regards

Hmmmmm, good question.
I dont have the medion/navigon package, but i do use PDA and software, TomTom to be exact.
Anyways, pondering the point, as this is pretty much the same, the package is PDA based.
However, when plotting a route in tomtom, you can make an itinerary, which you can save. Has start, via and end points. In this case you can browse to the PDA from windows and pull the file out and post that. I would think if you dumped it back on a PDA it would be able to find it.
Can you save an itinerary or something similar on the Medion?
