who else got one?cheap , but not nasty

I recently bought one on e-bay. £1.99 plus £2.00 p/p. Bargain me thought.
Also bought a Tronic set on E-bay which is nearly half the size (£11.00), uses only half the batteries and has an input for CD, Mp3, etc. Have been using PMR radios till now but like the thought of "duplex" comms with the music running as well.
The Chatterbox headset and leads seems "stronger" that the Tronic headset.
When touring in the mountains, coasts, small villages, etc, we rarely go above 50 / 60 except for short blats so i thought the chatterbox is worth a try. I have a mate with a 900 who swears by the chatterbox.
I love all the hi-tec sh*t but for this sort of money you can't go wrong. If I am riding at 70 /80 mph plus I don't really want to be holding chatty conversations, and I don't want a GPS saying turn right when I'm doing that sort of speed.
Anyway haven't tried it yet, will let you know what I think in due course.
Of course if you need to use your phone, talk to your pillion as well as other bikes, and listen to music at 100 mph, plus I guess these things are useless pieces of cheap "kiddy carp"...........

I picked one up cheap at last year's BMF show. Works OK up to about 50mph. Two problems I found with it. It uses 2 watch batteries, which only last about 2 hours, and there's no LED to tell you it's on, so we ended up leaving it switched on and draining it.
I have now converted it to use a couple of AAA rechargables, and they last a lot longer. As we have the IntaRide RP1 on the bike, we only use the Chatterbox on the Majesty scoot (with the IntaRide headsets). It's a bit quiet with these headsets, but OK for use at town speeds.

Sweet J. You use the scooter 2-up? The man has no fear or shame!
How do you use ther chatterbox with Interide headsets? Been doing some cutting and soldering of new plugs?

I found some leads from (another) old intercom which have the right fittings.
As for two-up on the Maj, we went all the way to Stoke for the Easter egg run. Much easier doing all the stop-start with no clutch! Comfier than the Diversion as well. Just a bit slower on the A50 (although she will still do 70).

That must be why they were selling them off cheap - old model.

Yep, thats a really old one.
The later ones have power on LED and take 4AAA's.
Tried the Tronic today, (2 AAA's) performance depended on the windand direction.
Today we had about 30 mph wind, when it was from ahead or from the side it was
ok to about 40 / 50 mph.
With the wind behind was amazingly clear up to 70 mph, well surprising.
Music input was ok too from my Mp3 player, just need to change the adaptor
as input only is mono so you lose half the music so with astereo - mono adaptor
that problem is solved.
So overall very good for chatting with the pillion on a mountain / coastline tour.

mines the cheapy . tried it in , and upto the lake district . fine upto 60 mph . after that it picks up a lot of wind noise and starts to get LOUD in the tabs . admitedly , my flip front caberg doesnt help. i may try a foam cover or something to try and reduce noise around town its fine , making directions etc easy . as weve got intaride bike to bike already , i may invest in the rp1 to go with the existing headsets , when finances allow. ok for the money tho.
