Hi Guys,
Having recently tried out PMR radios on the New Forest trial run I was having problems with the VOX settings and could not get it right at all. (I only have cheap radios and not Autocom stuff.)
I used the Press To Talk (PTT) switch provided with the radios but this was awkward to use and meant I had to keep taking my hands off the handlebar to switch it.So I needed a handlebar mounted PTT switch fitted on the left side (so that I didn't alter the throttle when pressing switch) and could not find a suitable switch anywhere.
However when pondering the problem I discovered the PASS switch on the left hand switch cluster and, I don't know about you, but I've never used this switch as I always travel with my lights on and if I wanted to flash someone I would just switch to high beam with the rocker switch. So I added and extra two wires to the loom and rewired the switch to act as the PTT switch for my PMR radio. It's perfect, the position is right, no interference (because I'm switching power and not signal), and didn't cost anything.
Just thought I'd let you know in case anyone else had the same problem. I ride a 600s by the way, I don't know if the switch cluster is the same on the 900.
See you all later
Biff
