Hi All
I'm havin a bit of drama with the accelleration, 2 months ago it became chokey on the throttle to the point where there was hardly any accelleration, took it to the local bike shop were he said it was the carbs (apparently two of the front pipes were cold indicating fuel wasnt getting threw) so after a complete new rebuild of all the carbs i got her back a couple of weeks ago, all was fine until this morning riding to work in the wet and it's started doing the same thing but not quite as bad, if i give it a handful it returns to full throttle but not so good at low revs filtering etc, its very sort of chuggy if that makes sense lol Has anyone got any idea's? Thanks in advance!!

Carb icing? Or maybe it's an ignition problem what with the wet and all.

Carb icing sounds a possibility, is it cold and humid enough though ? 7 degrees here this morning but it felt damn cold. Maybe I'm getting old.

Carb Iceing.....can honestly say I've never heard of it, sounds daft but how does that work?

Well I believe it's down to the venturi effect effect of the carbs. It lowers the air pressure and therefore lowers the air temperature or something (I'm sure someone who knows better will be along shortly to explain how). If there's enough moisture in the air and the temp. is low enough...... I thought the carbs on the Divvy were heated though? I had something similar on my 600 a couple of times when it was raining. I could never decide whether it was a missing spark or carb icing.

If its happening during the wet could be issues with water getting past the HT leads? Sealing up the ends of the HT leads where they meet the coils with silicone could be worth doing and if you have any arcing (check if you get an electric shock with your hands on them) going on under there it may be that the leads themselves are failing sometimes even the coils. Could be worth replacing your plug caps too which might have gone high resistance, it can happen cheap enough to replace. In my experience the carbs don't really give much trouble if the bike's being used regularly.

Hi, just my tuppence...i get carb icing annually, but only when temp. Is close to zero. I get it when doing 30mph for a while after 60ish. I stop at traffic light, and idle, then when opening throttle, all dies. Have to sit and restart, and let engine heat warm everything up before I can go again. However, surgical spirit in tank fixes this. Yours doesn't sound like carb icing. I suspect damp......as others have suggested. 😁 bort

Thanks a lot guys, I think you may be right as I used it yesterday while it was dry and didn't have an issue at all!!
