I say boy. The lanky git that inhabits a bedroom in our house more like.
He has the bug and his CBT is Saturday so I'm on the look out for a decent 125 for him. If anyone knows of any (prices on Autotrader etc are STEEP!!) let me know please.
Cheers
Matt

Martin has a 100 that he only uses once a year. Needs the 2 stroke tank topping up but apart from that it's tidy.

Ebay is full of 125's as is Gumtree, getting something that won't dissolve in the rain for a price that won't break the bank will be a bit more difficult.

Time for that pic I reckon - you know, the one of the smug chap whose bike made it to the end of the C2C : I'll keep my eyes open, Matt. What sort of budget are we talking about?

A 125 for the boy? From your description I think you are asking too much for him.
I can lay my hands on a non running 50cc scooter with no MOT.
Will you swap him for that?

That's a photo of a Smug chap, who's bike made it to the end of the C to C despite his best efforts to seize the engine.

I'd bite the bullet and get him a Honda XR125. They are not the cheapest but don't seem to depreciate. 12 year old ones still fetch a grand so if he looks after it he'll get your money back. And you can borrow it for the C2C

Missed out on a couple of YBRs today. I know what you mean about the Hondas Mac. Even older CGs are a daft price!!
Like you said Bev finding something decent for a good price isn't easy. I don't mind one that needs a bit of work.
About £7-800 Martin. Need to factor in that HUGE first insewerants!!

Yes xl125, cb125s, or modern, van van, or Tw, Chinese bikes are worth considering, if it will stay a long time, I would like a Skyteam Ace, seller on eBay knockes them out for £1250 new, few mods from Ooracing, then once he is done, pick up the 250 engine www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skyteam-Ace-125-cafe-racer-retro-/191601360377?hash=item2c9c54bdf9:g:594AAOSw-zxWmzQB

How about a Korean bike?. I bought a Daelim vjf 125 for my son a couple of years ago and he still uses it daily summer and winter!Looks proper sporty and being based on basic Honda design has been excellent both for reliability and cost of ownership....Naturally I've been picking up the tab for the running costs (typical man child......I'll give you the money when I get paid next dad!!!).Oh, and it performs really well...Absolutely excellent little bike that looks bigger than a 125 and easy to work on......

I've got a 2011 sinnis trackstar sitting in the garage, if you want to go that route. I was using it to run back and forth to work, so anything that was going to give up has done and been fixed. So there should be no problems with it. Oh and it's got tyres on it that actually grip the road. It hasn't got an MOT, but I'll get one done, so he has a full year on it.
