Most especially for local boys, like BobH, who spot that Challow Garage no longer has an MOT chap!
Said MOT chap (Ian)now works for the Wantage MOT Centre ....
Unit 5, Elms Farm Business Park Grove Road, Grove, OX12 7PD
Tel 01235 761832 01235 766491
Just got the KE100 MOT'd there - not by Ian but another chap there, he even went round checking every single spoke! He loved the bike 'cos he used to have one - the brute even managed to get the front brake to lock up the wheel in the brake test, expect he drinks Bovril!
D9 will go in there a week or so.

Does that mean your usual 'soft' MOT centre is no more ?

Does that mean your usual 'soft' MOT centre is no more ? Well, if one ever fails [1] then it's much closer to push the bike home . [1] This does not happen .

Martin's never been known to have a Fail.
Mind you he's had plenty of Unable To Issue a Certificate ☺

Yep, he used to turn up, leave the bike, take the blokes guide dog for a walk and return to collect his certificate.

... he used to turn up, leave the bike, take the blokes guide dog for a walk .... You make it sound easy, but that dog used to tug on it's lead.

Thanks for that, Martin - Mellors still claims to do bike Mot's, and I was about to book the Fazer in for one.

When I rang Mellors for an appointment, it was them who told me they had no one & that Ian had gone to Wantage MOT Centre. (Wantage MOT chap was surprised they told me - I gather it didn't end too well at Mellors).

I did call in when passing Mellors today, and was assured that they intend to have a bike tester there "in a couple of weeks". I wonder if they'll update the testing "facilities"?
The Fazer8 is now overdue, so I'll probably be taking it to Ian & Co.

Phone number correction - their landline is 01235 766491. The number Martin gave is the one for 24-hour recoveries (might come in useful sometime, if the bobh trailering service is unavailable for any reason ) and is a mobile - prefix 07725. Booked the Fazer in for tomorrow, s we'll see how it goes.

Greeted like an old friend by Ian (the ex-Mellors tester) and asked to spread the word.
Being on top of what passes for a hill around these parts, there's actually quite a view from their waiting room window (the one that looks outside, not into the testing area). You can see right over to Brize Norton, where a plane was doing dummy landing circuits - I bet the twitchers were out in force.
Fazer passed with no problem, by the way, though he did seem to spend quite a while going over it with an inspection lamp - maybe he needs to put on a show for his new employers.

You can see right over to Brize Norton, where a plane was doing dummy landing circuits ... I hung around the testing bay last time. Got the blue D9 booked in for Monday morning so as it'll probably be raining I'll have a gawp out the windows of the waiting room, tell you what I see. (As long as I see a bit of white paper heading my way, I'll be happy enough.)
