I bought a very cheap 900 a couple of months ago which had a few issues, making it an ideal winter project. It came with a long MOT and ran well, which allowed me to ride it home. On the way, I noticed a clicking sound coming from the front end, so I made that my first job. The clicking was due to the support pads missing from the calipers, usually there are 4, but I only had 1, luckily, 'Kerriepete' came to the rescue and sent me 4 in the post, thanks Pete! I then realised that my front brakes were binding so I stripped down the calipers, and the cause was quickly spotted. The previous owner said he had rebuilt the calipers, but he had used copious amounts of copper grease, which had caused the seals and associated rubber parts to swell, the following picture shows a swollen slider pin rubber against a new one This then highlighted knackered wheel bearing, which were replaced. The previous owner had mentioned that a fork seal had been replaced, but I noticed it was still leaking, so I stripped down the leg to reveal this.. Three hours later, and different grades of wet and dry paper removed the burr, and a new seal was fitted. The swingarm had seen better days, so it was replaced: The wiring was next on the list... I ended up spending a week sorting out the old wiring, replacing a lot of wires in the process. Then came the clean up. The divvy had been used for commuting so was really dirty, and coated with grime, so now reasonably clean, I decided to ride it to work. It's not finished yet, I still have some cosmetics to do, and fit some new exhausts. Here she is, in the works car park.

Looking good but amazingly it had passed an MOT with all those faults.

Nice work matey. What make of silencers are those? Very rotten Motads, all the innards have come loose, and the ends have rotted out, and they have some nasty fabricated end caps for comedy value , replacements are on their way

Looking good but amazingly it had passed an MOT with all those faults. Me too, especially as the fork seals were leaking and the front brakes were hardly working. Mind you, the swingarm did get an advisory

Funny you should say that, but there are none fitted (yet) Under the seat of my recently-reacquired D9, the relay I used when I had it is still in place . I may wire it up again, so you'll have to buy your own .

Only a simple Yokel would sit for hours waiting for someone to turn off from a dual carriageway where the group had only done 7 miles. I know some of you Southerners are a bit slow on the uptake but give me strength, how was I to know the rest of the flock, including the back markers, would follow a random photographer. Like herding cats trying to keep together a posse of Englishmen overawed by the beauty of the surrounding countryside in Scotland.
At least I left you with a decent view to while away the hours.
It was nearly 3 years ago, are you home yet ? you plainly haven't forgotten.

I have heated grips on the NC, so I take that when it's chilly

I don't like sat navs much - though they have their uses they make me feel like a numpty! Much rather stop and look at a map if I need to than have something telling me to 'turn left' 'turn right' etc! Never tried heated grips though suppose I'm too stubborn and prefer to suffer!
